Gate Kits
If you are
looking for an easy way to install a gate, take a look at the types
of gates kits on the market. These gates are precut to fit a 34 inch
by 34 inch opening, but if you need a smaller gate, they can be cut
to fit smaller openings. There may be requirements for the
dimensions of gates in your municipality, so you do have to check on
these before you make your purchase.
The spindles for the gate fit easily into the holes on the bottom
rail, which are also precut. Then you put the top rail in place on
the top of the spindles. The easiest way to do this is to hold the
rail at a slight angle as you fit each hole over the corresponding
spindle. When you have the spindles and rails in place, then you can
slide the rail ends into the precut holes on the 4 X 4 sleeves. To
do this, lay the sleeve on with the precut holes facing upwards and
then place the rail ends into the holes. You do have to apply
pressure on the rails towards the spindles. Have the rail ends
pointed upwards and you can then slide the second rail end into
place.
When you stand the gate upright, the spindles should all be facing
upwards. If you want to make sure they are all flat against the
sleeves, just push the sleeves toward the spindles. There are screws
provided with the kit for you to secure the rails in place. These go
onto the inside of the sleeve right beside the precut holes. You do
need to do this on both sides of the gate.
The use of kits make installing gates easier and cheaper than buying
other models.
